Mine runs a bit choppy on start-up (choke open), but does not stall very often. I ride a few miles with choke on, it runs better that way. I don't like to run more than that because I don't want to dirty the plug with too rich a mixture.
I'd change the plug and oil first. When you change the plug and oil, go to my web site for some tips, as well as read what's posted here on the topics. Go to TIPS & HOW-TOS ----> TIPS & TRICKS.
I'd say change plug and oil often. Very cheap and easy.
If you change the plug and it still seems to run bad with choke on when starting, look into the carb or have someone check it out.
